When doing research — I always like to add the qualifier ‘Reddit’ to a few related Google searches to try and get more unbiased reviews about cryptocurrency exchanges, wallets, scams, and the laws/legality of crypto as a Canadian.
Here is my list of recommended subreddits I think you should check out when learning and researching crypto as a beginner.
Crypto Subreddits for Canada
r/BitcoinCA is a Reddit community for general cryptocurrency news and discussion in Canada. It’s a great place to keep up to date on the latest changes in Crypto.
r/cadbtc/ is a new subreddit for Canaiand to freely talk about cryptocurrency.
Canadian Exchanges
Most exchanges have a their own subreddits where they answer support questions.
r/Newtonco – The official subreddit for Newton.
r/shakepay – Shakepay’s official community forum.
r/NDAX – National Digital Asset Exchange (NDAX) is a Canadian-based digital asset exchange designed for both individuals and institutions.
r/Kraken – a place to discuss the Kraken Digital Assets Exchange.
r/CoinBase – a secure platform that makes it easy to buy, sell, and store cryptocurrency like Bitcoin, Ethereum, and more.
r/binance – world-leading blockchain and cryptocurrency exchange.
r/Coinberry – a platform to buy and sell Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies in Canada.
r/BitBuy – Unofficial BitBuy subreddit Canadian cryptocurrency trading platform
r/UniSwap – Uniswap is a decentralized trading protocol on Ethereum.
Subreddits dedicated to exchanges are mostly filled with users with support issues. Sometimes useful to figure out if you are having similar issues as other users.
Or whether an exchange is under heavy load and is experiencing delays for payment processing, deposits, and withdraws. Downtime from exchange updates and bug fixes.
This happens on all exchanges and one time or another. Especially when Bitcoin prices are at all-time highs (ATH)!
Maybe it’s a scam. You got to do the research!

r/Chainlink – a place for focused and technical discussion of decentralized oracles.
r/Stellar – a decentralized protocol that enables you to send money to anyone in the world, for fractions of a penny, instantly.
r/Monero – This is the official subreddit of Monero (XMR), a secure, private, untraceable currency that is open-source and freely available to all.
Haters
r/Buttcoin – Not everyone likes Bitcoin and crypto. Read what the haters have to say.
